You need a special client to access the Internet via a proxy server.

If the Microsoft box is running SOCKS (v4 or v5), AND it's not doing anything
proprietry such as domain authentication, then you should be able to use
'runsocks' to use the proxy. It's available from
ftp://ftp.redhat.com/contrib/libc6/i386/runsocks-1.0r10-5.i386.rpm

Note: I have some sample config files somewhere which allow connections via
_a Unix_ SOCKS proxy, but have never used a Windows SOCKS proxy.

You can tell if there's a SOCKS server by telnetting to port 1080:
$ telnet 192.168.4.1 1080

Of course, you could always ask your ISP for a genuine routed connection to
the Internet, where you have a real IP address.
