Dear Colleagues,

It has been nearly 11 years since I had the privilege of attending the
Scalable Network Infrastructure Training held in Djibouti, organized by the
African Network Operators Group (AfNOG) in 2014. This was a milestone in my
professional journey, offering one of the most enriching technical
experiences of my career.

The training was deeply hands-on and covered a wide range of critical
topics, including: the Internet Protocol stack, IP addressing (IPv4 and
IPv6), static routing, dynamic routing using OSPF/IS-IS, exterior routing
with BGP, router management, network operations and monitoring, as well as
Internet Exchange Points (IXPs). This comprehensive scope helped solidify
my foundation in Internet infrastructure and scalable network design.

I was fortunate to be mentored by some of the most respected Internet
infrastructure experts on the continent: Alan Barrett and Nishal Goburdhan
from South Africa, Frank Habicht from Tanzania, and Patrick Okui from
Uganda. Their expertise and dedication made a lasting impression on me and
shaped how I approach network engineering and operational excellence.
