RE: Strange ISDN Problem

Okay, so AS5300.

Confirm your AS5300 at the remote end has the following on the D-Channel:

interface Serial0:15
 no ip address
 encapsulation ppp
 dialer rotary-group 1
 dialer-group 1
 isdn switch-type primary-net5
 isdn incoming-voice modem
 no fair-queue
 no cdp enable

You don't say to which country you are dialing, so I will assume E-1, whose
D-Channel is positioned at timeslot 15. If you are using T-1, it's slightly
different, but nothing too much to hurt your setup requirements. The "isdn
incoming-voice modem" tells the on-board MICA modems to treat the call as a
data call.

Then, also check to see you have something close to the following
configuration:

interface Dialer1
 ip unnumbered FastEthernet0
 encapsulation ppp
 dialer in-band
 dialer idle-timeout 0
 dialer-group 1
peer default ip address pool your-pool-defined-here
 no fair-queue
 no cdp enable
 ppp authentication pap callin
 ppp multilink
!
dialer-list 1 protocol ip permit

That portion should take care of your ISDN connection request. I don't
expect certain parts of this configuration to be exactly the same as yours,
because of your environment, but this should give you some kind of idea on
how to get it working, from a server perspective. Hope it helps.

I can't really say I have heard of a successful [satellite] international
ISDN-BRI call before; that would be interesting. Is your telco providing
international access via satellite? Has this scenario ever worked for you
before?

Sorry about the sketchy details.

It is as shown below

Cisco1751---NT1----ISDN network-----CiscoAS5300
        (BRI) (PRI)

So my router is the Cisco1751.So when i initiate a
data call from the cisco1751 (isdn call int bri0/0
xxxxxxxxxxx) the call is detected as an incomming
voice/speech call by the Cisco AS5300. Then when the
Cisco AS5300 tries to make a data call to me, it is
detected as an incomming speech/voice call.

I suspect one of the telco switches is dropping some
of the bearer information when switching the call, or
is setup to route all international isdn calls as
voice calls and hence does bother to check the bearer capability requested.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks and regards
