If you cannot resolve your own name, it either means you are not not
authoritative (;-)) over your own domain or BIND is not listening at the
correct interface. Do you have the correct zone file definition?

Also, in /etc/named.conf make sure you have

options {
  listen-on {
    127.0.0.1;
    your.public.ip.if.any;
  }
}
