cd /usr/ports/lang/php4
make config
(enable CLI, APACHE...)
make
make install clean

ps: have you had a look at SquirrelMail [1]?  It's pretty neat!  And 
there's some (commercial) skins [2] out there that makes it look even 
nicer :-)
