I'm afraid this is not possible, then. You'd need a frame relay
switch if you are spanning a WAN.

My only experience using frame relay without a frame relay
 switch is configuring one of the routers as frame relay switch
 (DCE) and the other simulating an end-user node (DTE). But this
 was in a contained lab.
