The main problem is basically trying to determine when your account has
reached its cap. The rest is pretty easy.
SAIX don't use different IP ranges any more. On SAIX, capping is either
'hard', i.e. you would not be able to authenticate, or 'soft' whereby an
ACL (ISP specific or a SAIX default one) is applied. Knowing the
details of the ACL, one could therefore make some conclusions as to the
capping status of the account. The SAIX default ACL allows HTTP access
only to www.telkom.co.za and www.saix.net.
On Internet Solutions's DSL solution, the behaviour is somewhat
different. If you're using an ISDSL account, I can let you know more
details on that.
If you want to mail me details about the account off-list, I can write a
script for you which would be able to determine when your account has
reached its cap, and then switch accounts. Or perhaps, with the above
information, you can do it yourself :-)
