[afnog] Seeking Ideas - NTP - Stratum 1 Server setup

Hello,


Am looking for an inexpensive solution to implement a stratum 1 NTP
server in my region.

In my proposed setup, i wish to have;

a) 1 Stratum-1 server with GPS time synchronization in addition to a
couple of publicly available Stratum-1 servers as a redundancy measure.

b) 2 Public Stratum-2 Servers (free and Open to any user) will be setup
to sync with the Stratum-1 server and end users can directly use the
stratum-2 servers. In addition, Service Providers offering NTP services
to their end users can use the resource to syn their public NTP servers.

Am seemingly comfortable with having the 2 public Stratum-2 Servers
spec'd out as off the shelve servers.

My challenge is building a stratum-1 server using an
off-the-shelf-server with a PCI GPS card receiver for time sync and
lower cost compared to purchasing a custom built NTP stratum-1 server.

Hence am seeking references to GPS PCI card manufacturers or other
alternatives, and experiences in building the service.

Also recommendations on worthwhile open source NTP clients for all OS's
are welcome.
