it is moreless the software sometimes than irqs, this has been part of
the -STABLE devolopment, if we could get the versions of the cards that
would even be better , the new initialisation code should be able to fix
the watchdog problem, please have a look at the url's below they should
give you a good insight of the patch.

i would probably say upgrade to -STABLE because of the driver upgrades,
i know you say you have fixed the problem ..but i think you should have
a look at this option also
