hi. in a followup, i was able to repartion the harddisk which had an ntfs partition using bootit http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/ I was able to keep my win2k partition and create the necessary partitions for linux.
ntfsresize can also do the job but it keep requiring a defragmentation of the disk.
