Use the RPM command to check whether you have bind installed:

 

rpm -q bind8, or rpm -q bind9, or just rpm -q bind

 

You can also check /etc/init.d/ to see if you have the BIND name server binary/daemon there.

 

When you say Linux 7.2, is that Redhat, or SuSE, or Mandrake e.t.c You may want to be more specific.

Know I don't have firewall running of my system. and it is a linux system with version 7.2

I thought BIND comes automatically with linux 7.2 when you install linux or do I need to install BIND separately after I might have installed linux?

how can I know or confirm if BIND is running in the background of linux 7.2

Please paste a copy of your named.conf file. First, we get the DNS working, then look at Apache.

Pls I need help on troublshooting my Apache and DNS setup and Config. I went to http://ws.afnog.org site to get some hint but the links there are not working properly.

pls can anyone help me with how to complete the setup and config of the apache becos I have configured the apache on my network, I can access it within my network but it not be reach outside my network.

and likewise my DNS is still not resolving yet I can not browse the internet with it.

pls I need tech. help on how to go about it
