Maybe I'm getting good results because they're using the route-views
data and I've mostly tried local stuff... (tesla = 128.223.214.24)

this one worked - sort of:
http://zebra.swinog.ch/wwwbin/searchdb?type=oneip&ip=147.28.0.62
(gets you to as3130, but no tree)
