Hello Joe - We'll probably need some more details to help, but in general, here are a few things that can cause problems:

* You are installing Linux on top of another OS (like Windows).
* If you are using an older distribution, then lilo needs the boot partition to end before cyclinder 1024 on your disk (or, actually, the bootable image should end before cylinder 1024).
* You are writing the lilo boot record somewhere other than the MBR and you already have a boot record in the MBR (Windows, other OS).

If you are installing to a machine with no other OS installed, then make a small'ish boot partition (100MB should be plenty of space) as your first partition, label this "/boot" - If asked, place the boot record in the MBR.

Can you let us know the following if none of this helps:

	* Distirbution and version you are installing.
	* Error message,or behavior, you see upon rebooting.
	* Are you installing on top of another OS (that is, are you trying to dual boot)?
		- If so, what OS.

Thanks!

Sincerely,
	- Hervey Allen
