[afnog] Connectivity to www.afrinic.net

Mark,

TEAMS is up. But it appears most providers have shared loading on both.  Unfortunately, they dont seem to have commercial agreements btwn TEAMs and SEACOM that would allow TEAMS to automatically absorb capacity destined over SEACOM in the event of failure.

In the end, customers get crowded(congested) over the pre-purchased and therefore restricted TEAMs and/or Satellite bandwidth...

It's unfortunate that half-way through the year, the shorter
west-bound path (through North Africa to Europe) has not
been established, although that would not have necessarily
prevented this problem if the repeater failure is much
closer to Mombasa than Mumbai (the network diagram at
http://www.seacom.mu/network/network.html doesn't tell where
Segment 9 is).

Are TEAMS down too, or are fewer providers using them?

Cheers,

Mark.
