anyone who has been a sysadmin for more than a couple of years who says
they have not done some form of `rm -rf *` is not to be trusted.

three things you must do to keep from very time consuming disasters:
  o backup,
  o backup, and
  o backup

and test the restore workflow.  it can be fixit cd or whetever when you
are local.  i am always remote, and am considering flash usb in every
server.
