[afnog] kernel panic attempted to kill init

Hello all,
I have a server running with Debian 4.0 after the power down i restart it and /var was not correctly mounted so i use fsck /de/sdb1 to repair. After that i restart and get a following error :
pivot_root : No such file or directory
/sbin/init : 432 : Cannot open dev/console : no such file
kernel panic attempted to kill init

Please I need your help
