Tried that too, didn't work.
6.4 worked but it didn't include support for the NIC.
I've left it to the sysadmin but I believe he chose to install another  
NIC in order to upgrade (we think it's just the installer that broken  
- or not yet compatible with the Intel P45 architecture - although it  
appears the BSD stable team are working on this as I write this).  
We're also considering Ubuntu server but I haven't given up on BSD  
yet :)
