That's interesting, because based on the snippet from your 
routers' configurations you sent previously, it's difficult 
to see how IS-IS between those 2 interfaces was running 
since their MTU value was different (one was running with a 
default value, the other had a hard-set value) - you would 
have expected to see the IS-IS finite state machine 
in "Init".

With IS-IS not running, LDP wouldn't have been able to 
work - but yet your overall network (or perhaps these two 
routers) was not impacted.
