For the people who missed the *proposed* RIPE statement (posted here
by McTim), do note it says exactly the opposite: the statement does
not choose between the different proposals (all are technically
correct, after all) and it emphasizes that issues about control should
not delay the signing of the root.

But I agree with you that the real problem is of control, even if
everyone denies it.
