IP Address: 10.249.10.26
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 10.249.8.1
--------------------------------------------

The IP address 10.249.10.0 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 includes all addresses in the range of: 10.249.10.0 - 10.249.10.255. Your IP is in this range: 10.249.10.26 but the Gateway is not in this range. The router wants to see the gateway within the 10.249.10.0 - 10.249.10.255 range. Try 10.249.10.1 and see if that works.
