Hi,

The solution for this is "tail --follow=name <filename>"
For my case "tail --follow=name detail"

Elly

Greetings,

I have a minor problem reading continues CDR records generated Cisco voice gateways.

We have script that generates a new file named *detail* every 15
minutes. After 15minutes, existing detail file is zipped and a new
detail files is created. The circle is continuous.

I'm using *tail -f* to actively read the detail file been populated, however, with
every new circle, I need to re-run the *tail -f*, in order to read the new file been populated.

Is there a way to make tail -f to continuously read the *detail* file without been affected by a new circle?

Regards,
Elly
