[afnog] documentroot must be a directory

hello everyone,

i tried building a mail server.i've installed exim,apache and squirrel
mail but when i edited this file

/usr/local/etc/apache22/extra/httpd-vhosts.conf  to

<VirtualHost *:80>
ServerAdmin anaobii at unijos.edu.ng
DocumentRoot /usr/local/www/squirrelmail
ServerName mail.psite.unijos.edu.ng
ErrorLog /var/log/mail-error_log
CustomLog /var/log/mail-access_log common



when i tried stopping apache to restart it using apachectl stop,it gives
me this error message

syntax error on line 35 of
/usr/local/etc/apache22/extra/httpd-vhosts.conf:DocumentRoot must be a
directory
httpd (no pid file) not running.

i've checked if i made any typos but all was well typed.

what am i doing wrong?can someone pls help
