What I did in a workshop was here:

I think this was FreeBSD 5.x, but not sure. Anyway see if there's anything
there that helps.

Also: on the server, try adding an entry for the client in /etc/hosts. It's
silly, but I believe mounts fail if the client's IP address cannot be
converted back into a name.
