There is absolutely no reason for mgetty (a serial line daemon) to use
ifcfg-eth1 (a script to configure an Ethernet interface). Apparently,
the configuration of your machine has been seriously damaged, either
by a filesystem corruption (disk problem?) or by a clueless person
editing files at random.

You will need a deep checking of your configuration
files. Reinstalling from scratch may be faster.
