 then:

www# dig @ns1.swiftkenya.com kenic.or.ke ns
www# dig +norec @ns1.swiftkenya.com kenic.or.ke ns

what i mean is you might want to stop any firewall you're running and test again to see what happens; that is the pointer i dug from your mail.
