Hi,
I not a guru but have a similar problem on Linux last time.
I have to use this command first:
#service xfs start
Then follow with
#startx
And it worked for me. I dont know whether FreeBSD has something like that
but you can try it.

Hi all,
I'm a relatively new FreeBSD user. I recently reinstalled FreeBSD 5.3 on my
box (in the spirit of adventurous learning) and I can't seem to get x
windows running again. Here is a sample of what I get...
