One-line summary:

# cvsup -L 2 -g -h cvs.uk.freebsd.org /usr/share/examples/cvsup/ports-supfile

Replace 'cvs.uk.freebsd.org' with a nearer cvsup server, if there is one.

Aside: it's quite easy to build your own FreeBSD cvsup mirror, and this
might be a good thing to stick at an exchange point (for example). Just
install port net/cvsup-mirror and answer the questions at installation time.
It takes about 2.7GB for a mirror of the CVS repository.

Aside 2: I just discovered how to get tcsh to do proper tab-completion. Edit
/etc/csh.cshrc and add the following line:

  set autolist

The fact that FreeBSD uses tcsh for root's shell is one of its few remaining
bugbears; this makes it almost liveable with.

Regards,

Brian.
