Probably because when whatever machine connected to the remote mailserver,
it did not issue a MAIL/EXPN/VRFY or ETRN command. In other words, it didn't
try to send any message.

You need to be a *lot* more specific about your setup:

* What type of machine is sending? What type of machine is receiving? What
mail software are both ends running?

* What *exactly* do you see on the sending machine? What *exactly* do you
see on the receiving machine? If you get logs, then post the entire,
complete log line, not just a few words from it.
