Note that if you _don't have the password_, the phones are pretty much 
paperweights.  You definitely don't want to lose the password.  There are 
also interrupted intermediate image-load states which can turn the phones 
into bricks.  Either of which conditions require that the phone be 
returned to Cisco for re-flashing.  At least that's as much as I know.  If 
there are ways around that, or a password-recovery method, I don't know 
them, and I've got quite a bunch of these phones.  Out of maybe 500 phones 
through my hands in the last three years, four or five have had to go back 
to Cisco or be stripped for spare parts, due to becoming 
locked/unaddressable/whatever.
